A couple from Tacoma, Washington was busy celebrating their recent marriage while honeymooning in Mexico. A call came, abruptly ending their tropical vacation. A group of burglars had broken into their home and ransacked it bypassing their basic
The couple had secured their valuables in their 600 pound safebefore leaving for Mexico. The wife stated that she did not want to risk their valuables being stolen while visiting another country. The couple assumed no crook would be able to remove their giant safe from their home, but unfortunately found out that they were wrong.
The safe contained their wedding rings and other valuable jewelry along with other important documents, such as their social security cards and birth certificates. The thieves took them all.
The couple had actually not only installed an alarm system, but also had a system of . The men apparently noticed the cameras and turned them away. They then proceeded to take their time ransacking the couple’s home and loading their valuables into a waiting van. They not only took their safe but home computers and even clothing.
Neighborswere able to give the police a description of the suspect’s SUV. It has distinguishing markings and writings on it so the police are hoping to be able to arrest them soon but they said they need more information on the identity of the suspects. One neighbor spotted the suspicious vehicle parked outside their home but they drove off when they realized they had been spotted. It is clear that they have the intention of breaking into more homes given the chance. The couple has stated that they did have their credit cards inside the safe as well, and at this point they have not been used, indicating that the thieves most likely have not been able to open the safe.
The need for quality in every home is not just for large, urban cities. Burglaries are on the rise in many communities all over the country. This couple had only a large safe and a surveillance system. The thieves most likely would have been unable to take the amount of time that did if there had been an activated and monitored home security system. While neighbors looking out for neighbors have always been a good source of protection and information for the police, it cannot substitute the need to protect your home and valuables with an alarm system.
Given the opportunity and enough time, burglars can do serious damage to your peace of mind. Most likely, a burglar is looking for an easy target and a home with an activated and quickly becomes more trouble than it is worth, and they will move on to the next unassuming victim.
