Door-to-door sales have been the primary sales approach for Vivint Home Security over the years. The company is now all set to diversify this approach and has rented a 25,000 square foot space in Liberty Lake Business Center in a suburb of Spokane, Washington. This will be Vivint’s second sales center, the first one being in its headquarters in Provo, Utah. With the opening of a second sales center and the first one outside its headquarters, Vivint aims to drive more sales and build a stronger market presence.

The bigger vision over time is that we still have this strong summer-program model but we have a more diversified channel, meaning we’re not just a door-to-door company doing direct-to-home sales but we also have a very strong inside sales program that provides balance,” said Josh Houser, Vivint VP of global channel sales.

Houser said that this second sales center of Vivint is expected to start functioning by August this year. In the future, they may be looking at a third one, too. The company expects to add about 60,000 accounts, up by 75% from last year, through inbound and outbound calls through their global channel sales. The door-to-door sales will, however, continue to be the favorite.

We absolutely love our door-to-door program,” Houser said. “We think we have the best sales force on the face of the earth. However, we’d like to see our sales channel just become more diversified.”

He said that in the last few years Vivint has tried to move the pendulum such that there’s a more balanced, rather blended approach to the and sales strategy. Most of the company’s inbound calls are driven by their television, radio, and Internet advertising. The inside sales department that is a part of the global channel sales is a big driver for the company’s new growth.

Houser mentioned that a number of communities across the nation were open to Vivint’s sales center, but they chose Liberty Lake for far-reaching reasons like an educated and aware demographic in need of employment. The Spokane area also has a number of schools and colleges including Whitworth University, Gonzaga University, and Washington State University’s Spokane Campus, which are a great source of fresh talent.

Vivint aims to make the new sales center a truly enjoyable and fun place to work. They plan to have free lunch each day, just like the employees in Prove get. And the lunches are going to be top-quality gourmet delights like sushi, shrimp, filet mignon, and the likes, with unlimited soda and hot chocolate. The idea is to ensure that the employees are treated well so that they carry the same level of grace and hospitality to the customers.
